On Windows there is Cygwin, but it's clumsy and lengthy to install. Now is a better way to get back your bash shell. Babun comes to the rescue.
It is based on Cygwin . The Install-wrapper installs on your windows user home directory and does not need much of administration privileges. There are others like the new Windows 10 Bash Unbuntu developers mode. Or the Cash shell, with a NPM Javascript wrapper. But Babun bash takes the cake, and it eats your awk and perl scripts. For most parts, the Mentor Graphics folks use shell scripts. In the old days of Unix Workstations, it was built-in. Now , only a few use Linux Desktops for PCB Design work. I will be posting a few Shell-Scripts. So a Bash Shell with all the goodies , from grep to awk will come handy.
